Bei einem normalen Druckbleistift nutzt sich die Mine nur auf einer Seite ab, wodurch eine schräge Spitze entsteht. Mit dem Kuru Toga Advance ist es Uni im besten japanischen Sinne gelungen, Abhilfe zu schaffen, indem ein rotierendes System entwickelt wurde, das die Mine jedes Mal dreht, wenn die Mine vom Papier abgehoben wird. Dadurch wird die Mine von allen Seiten gleichmäßig abgenutzt.
Das Advance-Modell dreht die Mine doppelt so schnell wie beim Vorgängermodell, und im Gegensatz zum Vorgänger bestehen auch Teile der Mechanik aus Metall.
