Kokuyo was founded in 1905 in Ōsaka, Japan. At the time they manufactured book covers to account books. During its early years, the company balanced on the brink of collapse, as few seemed to care about book covers in Japan in the early 1900s. However, the founder refused to give up, and Kokuyo is today one of Japan's largest manufacturers of office supplies.
