To celebrate MD's 15th anniversary, the MD team invited Kenji Nakayama and 14 other artists to unleash their creativity. They then created special editions of their MD Notebooks with the artists' illustrations embossed on the covers.

Kenji Nakayama
Kenji is a Hokkaido-born, Boston-based visual artist and sign painter. After moving to the USA, he graduated from the Butera School of Art, a specialist sign-painting school. He has worked on the designs for many billboards, along with many art projects and designs for company branding.
About his artwork for Midori MD, Kenji shares: "I tend to practice on white paper, and that's what inspired me to be a part of this project. My unstructured, scribbly script expresses the way I never follow guidelines — my focus is on the rhythm of my writing and the balance between the letters and the white paper."
