Maruman was founded in 1920 in Tokyo, then producing sketchbooks for primary schools. Maruman was the first Japanese company to use machines to manufacture spiral-bound notebooks. Maruman devotes a great deal of energy to differentiating different types of paper use, in order to be able to design different papers for different types needs, such as studies, drawing, painting, journaling, etc.
Maruman's latest product line, Mnemosyne, is a huge success in Japan. Named after the Greek god of memory, each notebook in the Mnemosyne series has a softcover and is firmly bound with double rings.
