Pilot Capless Matte Black

Pilot Capless Matte Black, or Pilot Vanishing Point, as it's also called, is a pretty incredible construction. Instead of - as is the rule for fountain pens - letting the nib be protected by a cap, the nib of this model can instead be retracted into the pen body as if it were an ordinary ballpoint pen. This has several advantages: the ink never or rarely dries out, and you can quickly start taking notes without having to unscrew the cap first.

Pilot Capless was launched as early as 1963 after being under development for over half a decade. The pen comes with converter and an ink cartridge.

Note that Japanese fountain pen nibs write thinner lines than their European counterparts.
