A shitajiki is a typical Japanese product. Roughly translated, it means "under the sheet", and is just that: something to put under the paper to get some additional control and to avoid making marks in the paper underneath.
This shitajiki from Kokuyo has a grid design and is available in two sizes. The grid pattern is 5 x 5 mm, and the slightly thicker lines have a gap of 10 mm. One side is smooth and the other side is matte. The pad is 1 mm thin and both flexible and stable at the same time.
