Yamamoto Writing Pad A5

Yamamoto's Writing Pad contains the Tomoe River paper, which – due to its cult status – hardly needs any further presentation. But for those who still doesn't know: it's thin, can handle any pen, and gives your ink a very special shine.

Tomoegawa Paper Co., the company that manufactures Tomoe River, closed their paper machine Shizuoka Plant No. 7 in 2019, in which all the Tomoe River was manufactured. The reason for doing so was that it wasn't simply profitable to have in operation due to excessive costs of the machine itself. They then switched to No. 9 with which the paper in Yamamoto's Writing Pad is now made. In February 2021, however, Tomoegawa announced that it will stop manufacturing Tomoe River altogether from October 2021.
